Jockey’s Ridge is the largest natural sand dune on the east coast of the United States. Located in Nags Head, North Carolina, Jolyn and I took a day trip there last December from my family’s beach house in Salvo, North Carolina.
The giant dune makes you feel like you’re in the middle of a desert at times, especially when you’re looking up at it. However, once you get to the peak of the dune, you are able to see both the Atlantic Ocean and the Roanoke Sound – water is never far off when you’re in the Outer Banks.
As late afternoon turned to evening, we got to frolicking…
…and watched the sun go down.
A beautiful place to check out on the Outer Banks – especially in the winter!
